A Tribute To Angela

June 11, 2023

Good afternoon  ARJS Members and Friends…I’m Evelyn…

Welcome to this special event.

You will need paper and pen, your laptop or phone for one of our activities, today!

For today’s icebreaker, we will offer a special time of love and appreciation to Angela Chandler.

Angela is unable to be with us today because one of her dogs passed away, yesterday evening.

She is hurting and grieving the loss. This is our moment to show our empathy and gratitude to her.

I shared with her that we would carry on.  I’d like to take a few minutes to honor Angela.

She has been very diligent, and consistent in preparing various educational and informational presentations for our ARJS group, for several months.

Angela has invested so much time in making sure that we have the necessary tools to learn about topics from Code Switching, Bias and Racism, Diversity, Inclusion

She has graciously volunteered her time. This is our opportunity to collectively share our gratitude and empathy with Angela.

She has  journeyed with us and listened to your joys, woes, and moments of concern. She genuinely believes that everyone has a part in this process of helping each other to become more unified in our daily lives. That’s very encouraging!

TRIBUTE TO Angela!

The Word Volunteer

Please share your love and concern for Angela.

Valuable is the work you do,

Outstanding in how you always come through.

Loyal, sincere, and full of good cheer,

Untiring in your efforts throughout the year.

Notable are the contributions you make,

Trustworthy in every project you take

Eager to reach your every goal,

Effective in the way you fulfill your role.

Ready with a smile like a shining star, Special and wonderful; that is what you are!

Angela, you’ve journeyed with us, and listened to our joys, woes, and moments of confusion and uncertainties, and yet, you persevered with active listening and more words of hope and encouragement.

I’ve observed a group of people, who have decided, to commit, and remain focused with a belief that together, we will succeed in helping each other to become more unified in our daily lives. Many thanks to you, cousin! You are so loved!! We are sending our love to you and Jon Michael!

Activity

Let’s briefly focus on the word equity.

WHAT IS EQUITY?

The term “equity” refers to fairness and justice and is distinguished from equality:

Whereas equality means providing the same to all, equity means recognizing that we do not all start from the same place and must acknowledge and make adjustments to imbalances.

The process is ongoing, requiring us to identify and overcome intentional and unintentional barriers arising from bias or systemic structures.
